Kansas State Wildcats are down to two healthy quarterbacks after Blake Barnett was injured in the season opener

The Kansas State Wildcats are hoping quarterback Avery Johnson remains healthy all season.

If not, the Wildcats could be shorthanded at the position for a few weeks. Backups Dillon Duff and Blake Barnett are both dealing with injuries according to first-year coach Collin Klein.

Klein said Barnett could be out the longer of two after sustaining an injury in the season opener against the Nicholls Cowboys.

"Dillon (Duff) is day-to-day," Klein said. "He's made some really, really good progress. Blake (Barnett) got dinged up during his time in week one during the game. Nothing season related, but he'll probably be a little bit longer. Taking it day to day. Obviously, we have some plans for how we'll take care of everything, but I do think we got two guys that we feel very, very good about and are going to compete and attack and have the same mindset moving forward."

The Wildcats, who are 2-0 this season, play host to the Tulane Green Wave Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. They open Big 12 conference play the following week on the road against the Cincinnati Bearcats.
