On Thursday, the Big 12 announced the conference schedule for men's basketball
The Kansas State Wildcats fan base is fully enjoying the start of the Collin Klein era on the football field but there's also a new beginning for another program.
First-year basketball coach Casey Alexander takes over for Jerome Tang, who was fired after last season. Alexander comes over from Belmont after turning it into a consistent winner. On Thursday, the Big 12 conference released the conference schedule. It opens Jan. 2 on the road against the Baylor Bears. Other key dates include two matchups against the Kansas Jayhawks Jan. 23 (home) and Feb. 27 (away).
For the Wildcats, this will be an uphill because of the tough circumstances. The roster is full of new players while Alexander is still adjusting to his new surroundings.
"It's going to take us a long time, but we're not going to ease into it," Alexander said this summer. "We're not going to try to get ourselves in shape. We're like we're practicing, and so that's a lot, you know. And we have gotten a lot done, which I've been really pleased with."
Still, expect it to take some time before Alexander places his stamp on the program.
