Some say the Kansas State Wildcats were the first to use the "Tush Push" while Bill Snyder was the coach

The "Tush Push" is one of the most controversial plays in the NFL right now.

Some like it. Some hate it. It's among the most debated topics in the league.

And, apparently, there is tie to the Kansas State Wildcats and legendary coach Bill Snyder. While Pat McAfee was discussing it on his ESPN show, the panel mentioned how it may have first started under Snyder during his second stint as a coach. There is even a video of the Wildcats executing something similar to the "Tush Push."

The play has since caught on in the rest of the football world, especially the NFL. Teams such as the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. Some have said it provides an unfair advantage to the offense because it allows the linemen to push the ball-carrier for an extra few yards. It is used mostly in short yardage and goaline situations.

It got so bad that the league considered banning it but it remains a legal play. If anything, it just adds to the legacy of Snyder. He is the most celebrated figure in K-State sports history, ahead of the likes of NBA Hall of Famer Mitch Richmond, former NFL player Terrence Newman, running back Darren Sproles, quarterback Michael Bishop and even current coach Collin Klein.

Snyder was responsible for turning the Wildcats program from a joke to perennial championship contenders during the late 1990s. He is the reason why today's team is able to recruit top talent. There was a time when the Wildcats were the worst team in the Big 8 and Big 12.

Now, they are about to begin another season where they are among the top teams in the conference. They open the season Saturday against Nicholls at the field named after the most influential person in school history.

And the creator of the "Tush Push."
