Kansas Jayhawks running back Dylan Edwards is playing for his third NCAA football team

Dylan Edwards has entered with huge expectations at every college football stop he's had since finishing high school.

At Colorado, he was considered a top talent. The same thing happened when he transferred to Kansas State.

And now Edwards is garnering attention with the Kansas Jayhawks. The question is this: has he finally found a home in Lawrence after so much bouncing around?

"Dylan is a special talent," Kansas coach Lance Leipold said during his weekly press conference earlier this week. " ... He's a threat anytime he touches the ball."

Edwards was all but handed the keys to the K-State backfield last year when entered the preseason as the starter. Things didn't go according to plan, though. After a few games, he was unseated as the starter by Joe Jackson. Edwards became an afterthought after Jackson ran for nearly 1,000 yards and earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors.

That led to Edwards once again looking for new surroundings. It took him to playing for the the arch rival Jayhawks, his third Big 12 stop. The difference this time could be Edwards learning from his experience with the Wildcats.

Losing the starting job should serve as motivation. Leipold has also kept Edwards grounded. When the depth chart was released this week, Edwards wasn't listed as the starter. He shared the title with Yasnin Willis, who dad 129 carries for 558 yards and four touchdowns last year for the Syracuse Orangemen.

That should give Edwards more than a spark for this season.

JAYHAWKS HOSTING TOP HOOPS RECRUIT

Kansas basketball is adding another highly regarded prospect to an already busy September recruiting schedule.

Class of 2027 guard Parker McDaniel is expected to take an official visit to Lawrence during the weekend of Sept. 11-12, according to 247Sports recruiting analyst Eric Bossi.

According to 247Sports, McDaniel is ranked as the No. 96 overall player in the 2027 class and the No. 15 shooting guard nationally.
