After dealing with inconsistency for the Kansas Jayhawks, Jalon Daniels is now the backup quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The fact former Kansas Jayhawks Jalon Daniels made the Tampa Buccaneers roster was quite the accomplishment.

What made it even more impressive was he won the No. 2 quarterback job behind Baker Mayfield this season. It gets even better when considering Daniels was an undrafted free agent.

Which brings us to the question: where was this at KU?

Don't get me wrong: Daniels had a solid career with the Jayhawks. He showed signs that he could play at the next level but dealt with so much inconsistency. He could never put together a few games consecutively.

He finished his KU career second on the passing yards and touchdown lists but was unable live up to the high expectations placed on him by the KU fan base. In 2023, he was named the Big 12 preseason Offensive Player of the Year. That was expected to be the norm but it never happened.

His accomplishment in the NFL should prove he always had the talent. He just needed everything to come together. Here's wishing him the best with the Buccaneers.

JAYHAWKS SET TO HOST TOP BASKETBALL RECRUIT

Kansas basketball is adding another highly regarded prospect to an already busy September recruiting schedule.

Class of 2027 guard Parker McDaniel is expected to take an official visit to Lawrence during the weekend of Sept. 11-12, according to 247Sports recruiting analyst Eric Bossi.

McDaniel will join fellow 2027 prospects Malachi Jordan and Jalen White as expected visitors that weekend, giving Bill Self and his staff another opportunity to make an early impression on one of the class' rising players.

The 6-foot-3, 170-pound McDaniel has climbed recruiting rankings in recent months after receiving an offer from Kansas in June.

According to 247Sports, McDaniel is ranked as the No. 96 overall player in the 2027 class and the No. 15 shooting guard nationally.

McDaniel is entering his junior season at South Central Prep in Oklahoma and has already attracted interest from several major programs. His recruitment includes offers from more than a dozen Division I schools, with Big 12 programs Oklahoma State and West Virginia also involved.
