The LSU Tigers had been recruiting star defensive lineman Jalen Brewster hard, but the prospect has let them know that he will be sticking with the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

The LSU Tigers have made an aggressive push to flip the top player in the country for the 2027 class, but it appears as though their efforts will be for naught.

Star defensive line recruit Jalen Brewster shut down his recruitment on Wednesday, sticking with the Texas Tech Red Raiders, per Rivals' Hayes Fawcett. An obviously disappointing outcome for the Tigers.

Brewster is as sure a thing as prospects come. He has NFL-ready size at 6-foot-3, 300 pounds, with impressive athleticism. He would have likely played right away in Baton Rouge next season, but now will do that in Lubbock.

The good news is that LSU didn't need Brewster as much as they just really wanted him. They brought in one of the best defensive line recruiting classes of all time just last year. They have elite talent all over that room they already need to develop, but adding a five-star player is never a bad thing on paper.

As of now, they'll have Deuce Geralds and Richard Anderson to lead them into the future on the interior, with Lamar Brown. While neither is as highly rated individually as Brewster, they are

This could open up LSU to go even harder after another 2027 recruit they are trying to flip: wide receiver, current Texas Longhorns commit Easton Royal. They already have two other five-stars in KJ Green and Ahmad Hudson. The class will end up alright without Brewster, but it would have been more fun with him included.
