The LSU Tigers need to accomplish these three things to feel successful against the McNeese St. Cowboys.

The LSU Tigers have a game this weekend against the McNeese St. Cowboys, in which the Tigers are favored by nearly 50 points. LSU is clearly the favorite to win the game, but the coaching staff will try to find different ways to motivate the team.

One important thing to remember in this type of game, winning isn't the only metric of success. The staff is sure to set out some different goals for their players. Here are three keys to the Tigers feeling that success in this game:

Start Faster Than Against Louisiana Tech

LSU was heavy favorites against the Bulldogs earlier this season, only to head into the locker rooms with a 10-7 lead. The Tigers came out of halftime and dominated, but the slow start left a bad taste in people's mouths.

Part of that was four ugly first half turnovers. Sam Leavitt threw three interceptions on his own. Leavitt's start to the year had people questioning if he was the right fit for the job. This game was a major factor in that. In the end, though, the Tigers kept starting Leavitt and now it's looking like it has paid off after his major confidence boost against the Texas A&M Aggies.

Stay Healthy

The biggest concern so far this season isn’t the loss to the Ole Miss Rebels. It’s the injuries they’ve already gone through. Trey’Dez Green and Whit Weeks are out indefinitely, Dashawn Spears is out for the year and a few other depth pieces have been lost.

Lane Kiffin joked on Monday that it felt like they had already played an entire season, but in reality they still have nine conference games to go. For that reason, LSU is expected to be very cautious with its players in this game. A lot of depth should be used early and often.

Don't Show Mercy

With so many depth players playing, the Tigers should not hold back and continue put up points throughout the night.

Kiffin made a good point after being upset that LSU allowed a late touchdown against the Bulldogs. They are going to need those depth players at points this year, it’s showing with the injuries liking up, so they need to be ready at all times. This may be a game where the Tigers should cruise to victory, but that doesn’t mean they can completely shut down their operation once they get a lead.
