The LSU Tigers are going to once again be well-represented at the 2027 NFL Draft.
The LSU Tigers haven't had a perfect season, but it is clear that their roster is loaded with players who are going to eventually be playing on Sundays (as usual).
Now, about two months into both the NFL and college seasons, many eyes are starting to drift towards the 2027 NFL draft. Longtime ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. has released an updated look at his big board, and a couple of Tigers made it to the rankings at the top five of their position. Here is where they fell:
No. 1 TE Trey'Dez Green (No. 23 overall)
There is a reason why the Tigers were so excited to get Green back from injury. He's one of the single-most impactful players in the country. He has special athleticism for a 6-foot-7 tight end, is a solid blocker and is a complete gamechanger in the red zone. Tight end is an interesting position in the NFL and Green probably won't be used like some of the top players there at that level, but a creative offense will get a ton out of him.
No. 2 OT Jordan Seaton (No. 20 overall)
Seaton has been expected to be a top NFL draft pick since he came out of high school, so this just proves how much scouts really love him. He is another fantastic athlete for his size and has been a strong pass blocker from his entire career. He's never really brought much to the run game, but that's something that coaches will believe they can unlock. His play has dipped a bit over the last couple of weeks (eight pressures allowed in the last three games), but at this point he should be a first-rounder no matter what.
No. 3 DE Jordan Ross
Some may be surprised to see this, but Ross is the team's highest-ranked pass rusher. Scouts have fallen in love with him in this Blake Baker defense, and he has risen a ton this year. Like Seaton, Ross was a five-star out of high school, but it took longer for him to stand out in college. He was a poor fit with the Tennessee Volunteers, but he has 29 pressures and five sacks so far this year.
Who "Just Missed"
DE Princewill Umanmielen
WR Jackson Harris
Umanmielen wasn't far behind Ross, but he didn't make the top-five cut, seemingly the first name out. Umanmielen isn't seen as one of the best athletes at the position, but he is a violent rusher who has been ultra-productive over the past two years. He also has a brother in the NFL.
Harris is another person who could continue to rise if he keeps up his current production. He has a great combination of size and speed, plus the technical side has stood out in recent weeks on top of elite effort.
