These former LSU Tigers stars put on standout performances for their NFL teams in Week 2.
The NFL's Week 2 has come and gone, with a few former LSU Tigers making an impact in winning for their teams. With so many players in the NFL, there is always at least someone to highlight. For this week, though, here are four former Tigers who impressed with their teams:
Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow and WR Ja'Marr Chase
Don't look now, but the Bengals might be ready to finally make some noise again this year. The defense looks as good as it has in years, plus the connection between Burrow and Chase remains top tier.
Chase finished this game with seven catches for 75 yards and two touchdowns. One of his touchdowns made the rounds as one of the best catches of the year, a toe-tapper on a perfect throw from Burrow, which is something that Tigers fans remember fondly.
In the week leading up to the game, Burrow was questionable with a back issue, but he seemed to handle it fine. He finished the day 20-for-31 with 207 yards and two touchdowns to chase. He even got saved five times, once by fellow former LSU standout Danielle Hunter.
Cincinnati is now 2-0 on the year with a real chance to make a run this year if the team continues down this path. It'll be fun seeing this duo play serious football once again.
New England Patriots LT Will Campbell
Campbell is entering Year 2 of his career after a much-maligned rookie year. In the end, though, it was a rookie year at left tackle, and his team made it to the Super Bowl. There should be no real worry yet about the tackle being able to turn things around.
He's had a nice start to this season and played fairly cleanly against the Pittsburgh Steelers, allowing just one pressure. After being called for two flags last week, he was clean in this one.
Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson
This one is more about the overall meaning of his performance than a breakout game. He had 3 catches for 55 yards, which could actually be impressive given that his quarterback is Carson Wentz and it was against the Chicago Bears.
During this game, though, Jefferson jumped into second place all-time in Vikings history with 590 catches. That surpasses Randy Moss, who is always an impressive name to beat in any receiving category. First is still Cris Carter with a massive total of 1,004. Jefferson will need to stay in Minnesota for a few more years to match that.
Which other former LSU Tigers deserve a shoutout for their Week 2 performances?
