Memphis continues to be impacted by the transfer portal, and as of Thursday evening, 32 players have announced their intention to enter the portal. Five more players entered the portal over the last 24 hours, including a pair of young running backs.

All five of the newest departures were listed as redshirt sophomores or younger.

The transfer portal doesn’t officially open until January 2, but most players announced their decisions prior to the portal opening. It was reported last week that nobody from the 2025 staff would be retained by Huff, which gives players more reason to enter the portal.

Last season, Huff brought in nearly 70 new players to Southern Miss, and he’ll have a similar task at Memphis. A lot of his players at Southern Miss are starting to announce their intentions to enter the portal, and they will be players to keep an eye on, especially with the position coaches that Huff brought with him to Memphis.
