CBS Sports lists Memphis as a potential CFP team

May 25, 2026 10:19 PM

CBS Sports published a story about CFB’s 26 mind-blowing stats for 2026, and Brad Crawford, who wrote the story, listed Memphis as a team that could make its first College Football Playoff appearance.

Crawford listed the Tigers as his Group of Five team in the first CFP prediction that he did this season, but he put UNLV in that spot after spring practice was over. Memphis and the Rebels will meet in week zero of the upcoming season.

In the story, Crawford talks about the fact that there’s a good chance a new team will make its first CFP appearance and lists the Tigers, along with five other teams, as “programs with rosters competitive enough” to make the playoffs.

What do you think the chances are for Memphis to make the CFP in Charles Huff’s first year?
