After the season ended in the conference tournament, several Tigers entered the transfer portal, including right-handed pitcher Will Howell. The redshirt sophomore was one of the weekend starters for Matt Riser’s team and posted a 6-6 record in 15 starts.
Earlier this week, he announced on social media that he has committed to Houston.
Howell ended the year with a 6.59 ERA in 69.2 innings pitched, and the Tigers won five of the last seven games he started.
The redshirt sophomore started the first game of the conference tournament against Charlotte and gave up three earned runs on eight hits and two walks, but he was able to do enough in 6.1 innings to put the Tigers in position to win the game.
Howell now heads to the Big 12 and will look to find a spot in the Cougars’ rotation.
