Memphis returns to action on Sunday to play Charlotte inside FedExForum. The Tigers will look to build some confidence with another win after beating UAB on the road Thursday night.
The 49ers enter the game with a 13-10 record, and they’re sitting in fourth place in the American Conference standings. The 49ers won four games in a row over ECU, Tulane, Temple and Rice before losing to Wichita State earlier this week.
Aaron Fearne’s team hasn’t lost back-to-back games since losing to Utah State and Charleston in early December.
As a team, Charlotte averages 74.2 points per game, and they shoot 46.1 percent from the field, 36.1 percent from deep and 71.5 percent from the free-throw line. Three players average more than 10 points per game, and sophomore Ben Bradford leads the team with 13 points per game.
Bradford went from averaging 2.5 points per game in 8.5 minutes per contest as a freshman to leading the team in scoring.
In addition to Bradford, point guard Dezayne Mingo averages 12.1 points and 4.3 assists per game. The point guard shoots 38.8 percent from three-point range this season, and he’s shooting 45.2 percent from deep on the road.
In the frontcourt, 7-foot-2 center Anton Bonke averages 10.7 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. As a team, the 49ers grab 34.7 rebounds per game, and they have a plus-3.5 rebounding margin.
Defensively, Charlotte allows 73.3 points per game, and opposing teams shoot 44.7 percent from the field and 34.6 percent from deep. Fearne’s team only forces 9.7 turnovers per game, and they turn those turnovers into 12.6 points off turnovers.

Here’s what to expect from the Tigers in their game against Charlotte:
Sincere Parker was the story of Thursday’s game against UAB. The guard finished with 40 points in 26 minutes off the bench, and it’ll be interesting to see how he plays tomorrow afternoon against Charlotte.
In his last five games, Parker has scored 22 points, zero points, 21 points, nine points and 40 points. If the trend continues, it could be a quiet night for the guard, but Penny Hardaway will look for him to bring a spark to the court similar to Thursday night.
It will also be interesting to see what Hardaway does with the starting lineup on Sunday. He has used the same starting five for the last three games, but the group has gotten out to slower starts with this starting five.
It appears that Hardaway likes using Parker off the bench, but it could be something to watch to see if he makes a move following the impressive showing from Parker.
In most conference games, the Tigers have had an advantage in the paint, but that won’t be the case against the 49ers. After playing well in conference play, Aaron Bradshaw will have his hands full against the 7-foot-2 Bonke, and it should be an interesting matchup.
Bradshaw has scored 10 or more points in five straight and seven of the last eight, and he has grabbed six or more rebounds in four of his last five games. Bradshaw is playing with a lot of confidence, and his matchup could be vital in Sunday’s game.
