Memphis continues its non-conference schedule on Saturday at home against Baylor. The Tigers have won two games in a row, but the next four games will be the toughest four-game stretch on the entire schedule.
The Bears enter the weekend with a 6-1 record, with their only loss coming against St. John’s in Las Vegas. Scott Drew’s team participated in the Players Era Festival last week and picked up wins over Creighton and San Diego State.
Baylor enters the game with one of the best offenses in college basketball, and it currently averages 90.1 points per game. The Bears have scored 90 or more points in four of their six games this season, and they’re coming off a 110-point performance against Sacramento State.
As a team, Baylor shoots 48.9 percent from the field, 34.9 percent from three and 74.6 percent from the free-throw line, and six players average 10 or more points.
Drew only plays about a seven-man rotation, and his team is extremely guard heavy.
Sophomore Cameron Carr leads the team with 23 points per game, and he’s shooting 550 percent from deep. After averaging only 4.8 points per game in four games at Tennessee last year, Carr is having a breakout season, and he has become one of the biggest risers in most 2026 mock drafts.
Another player getting love in a lot of mock drafts is freshman guard Tounde Yessoufou, and he’s averaging 17.1 points, 6 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. The Benin native is mocked to be taken in the lottery by most people, and he’s coming off a 27-point performance in the win over Sacramento State.
Baylor only averages 11 turnovers per game, and point guard Obi Agbim has done a nice job facilitating and limiting turnovers. Agbim leads the team with four assists per game, and he only averages 0.7 turnovers per contest.
Drew’s team doesn’t boast a ton of size, and they only have three players listed at 6-foot-9 or taller. All five of the Bears’ starters are listed as guards on the team roster, but four of the five starters average five or more rebounds per game.
By comparison, Memphis only has one player averaging more than five rebounds per game. Baylor also enters the game with the ninth best offensive rebounding percentage in the country.
Defensively, the Bears allow 81.4 points per game, and opposing teams are shooting 47.2 percent from the field and 35.7 percent from deep.
