Charles Huff and his staff landed another commitment in the class of 2027 with the addition of defensive back Bradley Stamper.
Stamper isn’t ranked by 247Sports or On3, and he holds nine Division I offers, according to On3. His commitment post lists him as a defensive back, but he plays on both sides of the ball for the University School of Jackson in Jackson, Tennessee.
Six of his nine offers are from FBS programs, and he received offers from both Army and Navy.
Stamper has been connected with Memphis for a while, going back to the previous coaching staff. He attended Memphis’ mega camp in 2024 and 2025, and he took an unofficial visit with the previous staff in 2025.
The new staff offered him in early March, and he took another unofficial visit later that month. Defensive coordinator Lance Guidry also visited him in Jackson in April.
The defensive back returned to Memphis in early June for another camp before taking an official visit with the program earlier this week. According to his social media, his official visit ran from June 19-21, and the Tigers were able to do enough to secure Stamper’s commitment.
During the mega camp, Stamper ran a 4.5 40-yard dash, and he ran a 4.48 40-yard dash at previous camps. He runs the 100 and 200 meters and participated in the Tennessee State Championship earlier this year.
According to MaxPreps, Stamper recorded 16 tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack, four interceptions and eight pass deflections, and he helped lead University School of Jackson to an 11-2 record. He was part of a defense that held opponents to 12.5 points per game, and that’s including a 59-7 loss to Nashville Christian in the playoffs.
Before that loss, the defense held opponents to only 8.7 points per game.
As a receiver, Stamper recorded 210 yards and a touchdown on 12 receptions.
The defensive back becomes the eighth commitment in the class of 2027 and the second cornerback, joining Memphis native Malik Dean, to commit to Huff’s program this summer. He also continues the strong week that the Tigers have had, going back to Saturday.
Memphis Central defensive lineman Joshua Lane committed Saturday night after visiting over the weekend, before offensive lineman Bryson Sanderson announced his commitment on Sunday. Sanderson took an official visit with Memphis during the weekend of June 12.
While it’s still early, the Tigers’ class ranks No. 119 in the country and No. 10 in the American Conference.
