Memphis’ season wrapped up a few weeks ago after back-to-back losses at the American Conference tournament in Clearwater, Florida, and the Tigers are officially getting the offseason underway with several players entering the transfer portal.

Late last week, left-handed pitcher Eli Curtis became the first Tiger to enter the transfer portal, but four more players have entered the portal since the start of the week. Matt Riser’s team is losing multiple key players who have used all of their eligibility, and it looks like it will be another busy offseason for Riser and his staff.

Here’s a look at who’s in the transfer portal so far.

Curtis was the first player to enter the transfer portal after spending two seasons with the Tigers. He appeared in four games this season, and he struggled to find a role throughout the year.

Curtis is the brother of Jake Curtis, who played for the Tigers for two seasons. Curtis’ father and uncle also played for Memphis.

C Brady McAbee

McAbee started his career at Snead State Community College before transferring to East Central Community College a year ago. At East Central, McAbee played in 35 games and hit .310 with three doubles and two home runs.

He landed at Memphis ahead of his junior season, and he played in 44 games, making 33 starts. The junior hit .279 with three doubles, seven home runs and 25 RBI.

McAbee played a bigger role later in the season, and he recorded five RBI during the conference tournament.

RF Parker Price

Price is another player who transferred in from a junior college, and he hit .304 with 17 doubles, two triples and three home runs during his sophomore season.

With the Tigers, he appeared in 19 games, making a pair of starts, and hit .182 with five runs scored. The outfield saw most of his action early in the season, and he didn’t appear in any games after the April 14th game against Mississippi Valley State.

RF Cade Hitson

Hitson started his collegiate career at Walters State Community College before spending his sophomore season at Columbia State Community College, where he appeared in 50 games and hit .338 with 10 home runs.

He joined Memphis for his junior campaign and 28 games, making 23 starts. He hit .282 with a triple, two home runs and 12 RBI in 71 at-bats.

SS Michael Politte

Politte spent the last two seasons with the Tigers after earning All-Conference and All-District honors in back-to-back seasons at Lindbergh High School in Saint Louis.

As a freshman, he appeared in 29 games, making 21 starts, and he hit .261 with six doubles and eight RBI. This season, Politte appeared in seven games, including five starts, but he didn’t record a hit in 12 at-bats.
