Memphis picks up commitments from two offensive linemen and sign a defensive lineman on Thursday
Memphis continues to build its roster through the transfer portal, and they brought in three more players on Thursday. The Tigers announced the signing of defensive lineman Devan Lowe on Thursday, while it was reported that offensive linemen Koby Keenum and Maarten Woudsma had both committed to Huff and Memphis.
With the signing of Lowe, the Tigers now have 20 players signed out of the portal and four players that have committed but not officially signed. It also feels like Huff is starting to shift his focus from Southern Miss players to players form other porgrams, and it makes sense.
When Huff signed and brought over a bulk of the Golden Eagles coaching staff, it was logical that a bulk of the players would quickly follow their coaches. There are still a few names that could sign with Memphis from Southern Miss, but it feels like the coaching staff is finished with the bulk of players coming from Hattiesburg.
The Tigers announced the signing of former Georgia Southern defensive lineman Devan Lowe earlier Thursday morning, and he joins after spending one season with the Eagles. Lowe spent his first two collegiate seasons at Hutchinson Community College, where he helped lead the school to a NJCAA national championship in 2024.
With Georgia Southern, Lowe recorded 21 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks in 11 games. He will have one season of eligibility remaining.
Earlier Thursday morning, CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported that Mississippi State offensive lineman Koby Keenum committed to the Tigers. After being a four-star in high school, Keenum spent time at Kentucky and Mississippi State and entered the transfer portal again after his redshirt sophomore season.
Keenum spent two seasons at Kentucky before joining the Bulldogs, where he saw limited action in four games at center. The center will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Memphis also picked up a commitment from guard Maarten Woudsma, who spent the last four years at Old Dominion. Woudsma redshirted during the 2022 seasons before seeing more and more playing time over the last three seasons.
In 2025, Woudsma started all 13 games and only allowed three sacks on 376 allowed pressure opportunities. With new offensive coordinator Kevin Decker, the two helped lead the Monarchs to rank inside the top 10 nationally in rushing and top 20 in total offense.
