Memphis receives commitments from a pair of Colorado offensive weapons cover image

Memphis football continues the busy day with commitments from Memphis native and former CBHS running back Dallan Hayden and Colorado receiver Terrell Timmons Jr.

Hayden and Timons are the fourth and fifth players that Memphis has announced today, and they move the total to 30 players that the Tigers have picked up out of the transfer portal.

Hayden starred at CBHS in high school, winning back-to-back Division II-AAA Mr. Football awards with back-to-back 2,000-yard seasons in his final two years with the Purple Wave.

Hayden signed with Ohio State as a four-star recruit in the class of 2022, and he played a massive role for the Buckeyes as a true freshman. Because of injuries, Hayden was thrust into the running back rotation and recorded 553 yards and five touchdowns during the 2022 season.

With players returning from injuries, Hayden only appeared in three games during the 2023 season and took a redshirt before entering the transfer portal. The running back signed with Colorado out of the portal, but he saw limited action during two seasons with the Buffaloes.

Hayden battled multiple injuries during his two seasons at Colorado and combined for 522 yards and two touchdowns on 134 carries over the two years.

The running back split time in the Bufaloes’ backfield, but he finished third on the team with 326 rushing yards in 2025, only behind running back Micah Welch and quarterback Kaiden Salter. Hayden was named to the Oak Walker Award Watch List prior to the 2025 season.

The Memphis native is a physical runner, picking up 360 yards after contact in 2025, and he hasn’t fumbled the ball over the last four seasons, according to Pro Football Focus.

Hayden has one season of eligibility remaining, and he will get a bigger opportunity playing for the Tigers. The running back brings four seasons of Power Four experience, and he should thrive in the American and in Charles Huff’s system.

Timmons started his career at NC State before transferring to Colorado ahead of the 2024 season. With the Wolfpack, Timmons combined for 274 yards and a touchdown on 14 receptions in two seasons.

Timmons saw limited action with the Buffaloes, making only three starts in two seasons and combined for 80 yards on seven receptions. The 6-foot-2 senior should get a bigger opportunity at Memphis, and like Hayden, should have a lot of success with the Tigers.

Both players commit to Memphis with general manager Corey Phillips, who served as the director of player personnel for three seasons at Colorado.
