Memphis’ remaining schedule outlook cover image

The home stretch of the college basketball regular season is quickly approaching, and the Tigers only have six more games remaining on the schedule. Memphis has three home games and three away games over its final six, and it’ll start Thursday night on the road against South Florida.

Penny Hardaway’s team has struggled over the last few weeks, losing five of its last eight games, and it sits at 7-5 in conference play. Despite already losing five games in the American, the Tigers are only 2.5 games out of first place, and they will play the Bulls, who sit in first place, twice over the final six games.

@ South Florida (Thur. February, 19)

Memphis heads to Tamps following back-to-back losses against North Texas and Utah State, and it’ll have another tough test with South Florida. The Bulls are 18-8 on the season and have only lost three games in conference play.

Of those three losses, two of them came in overtime, and none of the three were by more than three points. Last season, Bryan Hodgson’s Arkansas State team beat the Tigers inside FedExForum.

Vs. UAB (Sun. February, 22)

This will be the second meeting between Memphis and the Blazers, and Hardaway’s team will look to sweep the season series against UAB. The Tigers beat UAB 90-80 in Birmingham, but Andy Kennedy’s team is 2-1 since the loss, including picking up their first home conference win of the season against Rice.

Vs. Wichita State (Thur. February, 26)

Wichita State heads to Memphis for the Tigers’ final game in February, and Hardaway’s team will look to get revenge after losing by 15 points in Wichita in late January. The Shockers have only lost two games since playing Memphis, against Tulsa and USF, but they’re 6-2 in their last eight conference games.

@ East Carolina (Sun. March, 1)

The Tigers will hit the road to start March for their only matchup against East Carolina this season. The Pirates started conference play 0-7, but they’ve turned things around a bit and are 4-2 over their last six conference games.

Vs. South Florida (Thur. March, 5)

The Bulls will make the return trip on March 5 against the Tigers, marking the second-to-last game for both teams. South Florida is the top team from the American on KenPom, ranking No. 60, but they are four spots behind Tulsa in the NET rankings.

@ Tulane (Sun. March, 8)

Memphis will end the season on the road against Tulane, and it will look to avenge a home loss against the Mean Green to start February. Tulane’s win over the Tigers snapped a five-game losing streak, and Ron Hunter’s team has won three of their last four games since that road victory.
