Memphis signs offensive lineman from Tennessee cover image

Memphis continues to build its 2026 roster, and on Tuesday, the Tigers announced the signing of offensive lineman Brian Grant. Grant joins the program after spending four seasons with the Tennessee Volunteers, where he saw limited action.

The offensive lineman announced his commitment Monday night, but he wasn’t officially announced until Tuesday afternoon.

Grant signed with Tennessee as a three-star recruit out of Choctawhatchee High School in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. He appeared in just one game as a freshman before taking a redshirt during the 2022 season.

During his redshirt freshman campaign, the offensive lineman appeared in 11 games, but he was primarily used on the special teams unit. He played 33 offensive snaps, earning the most snaps in a blowout win over UConn.

In 2024, Grant played all four non-conference games, and in 37 snaps, he didn’t allow a pressure or get called for a penalty. His best game came in the season-opener against Chattanooga, where he played 17 snaps.

During his final season in Knoxville, Grant played 70 offensive snaps over four games, and he played 45 snaps in the second game of the season against East Tennessee State University. For a second straight season, Grant wasn’t called for a penalty, and he only allowed one hurry in the four games.

Grant just wrapped up his redshirt junior season with the Volunteers, and he’ll have one season of eligibility remaining with the Tigers. At 6-foot-7 and 325 pounds, the offensive lineman adds more size to the unit, and he has shown he can play multiple positions on the offensive line.

Grant logged 26 snaps at left tackle, 31 snaps at left guard and 93 snaps at right tackle, according to Pro Football Focus. He clearly has a lot of versatility in where he can play, but it’s most likely that he’ll compete for the right tackle position, with nearly 100 snaps at the position.

Grant is the 48th player to sign with the Tigers, and five of the last seven players that Memphis has announced have been offensive players.
