Not even a day after Memphis landed its first commitment of the weekend with the addition of Joshua Lane, Interior offensive lineman Bryson Sanderson announced his commitment to the Tigers. Sanderson posted his commitment on X Sunday morning after spending last weekend on a visit with the Tigers.
The offensive lineman attends Oxford High School in Oxford, Alabama, and holds 18 offers, including seven from Power Four programs. According to 247Sports, Sanderson took only two official visits, and he was scheduled to visit Arkansas State earlier this week.
While he scheduled only two official visits, the three-star recruit took multiple unofficial visits to Power Four schools, including three to both Auburn and Ole Miss.
Sanderson ranks as the No. 30 interior offensive lineman in the class of 2027 and the No. 19 player in Alabama. He becomes the seventh player to commit to Memphis in the class of 2027, and he’s currently the highest-ranked player in the class.
Sanderson stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 300 pounds, and he mainly plays the guard position for Oxford High School. His highlight reel includes multiple pancake blocks, and he does a nice job creating running lanes for his running backs.
Sanderson was one of seven players who visited Memphis the weekend of June 12. As of yesterday, he was the only player who had yet to commit to a program.
With the addition of Sanderson, the Tigers nearly had a perfect hit rate with the seven visitors.
Four of the recruits committed to Memphis during the week, while wide receiver MJ Knight became the only player on that visit who didn’t commit to Memphis, pledging to Georgia Southern instead.
Quarterback Ethan Tisdale visited last week after committing to Memphis in May, and it’s safe to say that he helped recruit the others.
Whitehaven cornerback Malik Dean committed Saturday night while on his visit, and Charles Huff and his staff flipped wide receiver Aubrey Johnson from Florida Atlantic last Sunday. Later that day, offensive lineman Gage Luther committed to the Tigers, and on Monday, Jonathan Toney joined Memphis’ class.
With Sanderson’s commitment, Huff has three offensive linemen committed in the class of 2027.
The Tigers’ class now ranks No. 111 in the country and No. 9 in the American Conference, according to On3.
This weekend, the Tigers hosted four recruits, according to the recruiting site, and it will be interesting to see if any more of the visitors commit.
