Memphis picked up its third commitment of the weekend with the addition of offensive tackle Gage Luther. The interior offensive lineman out of Mississippi spent the weekend on a visit with the Tigers, and the staff impressed him enough to secure a commitment.

Luther was one of seven players on campus this weekend, and he joins wide receiver Aubrey Johnson and defensive back Malik Dean Jr. as players to commit after their visits.

Luther is listed as a three-star by 247Sports and Rivals, and he’s the No. 130 interior offensive lineman in the class, according to 247Sports. At 6-foot-6 and 305 pounds, he helped lead Pontotoc High School to a 7-5 record, and he was named a First Team All-State offensive lineman.

According to 247Sports, Luther scheduled three official visits, and he entered the weekend with a visit to Virginia Tech set for next weekend. The offensive lineman spent the first week of June in New Orleans on an official visit with Tulane before visiting Charles Huff and the Tigers.

Luther becomes the fourth commit in the 2027 class, joining Johnson, Dean and quarterback Ethan Tisdale. Tisdale committed to Memphis on May 22, becoming the first commit in the class.

All four commits were on campus this weekend, with three committing after the visit. It probably didn’t hurt to have Tisdale on campus helping in the recruiting efforts.

While they picked up three commitments this weekend, wide receiver MJ Knight committed to Georgia Southern while on his official visit with the Tigers.

With four commits, Memphis has the eighth most commitments in the American. It will be interesting to see if they are able to land any more players who were on campus.

Huff and his staff have been extremely busy to start the month, and they are scheduled to host more recruits over the next few weeks.
