Memphis football has turned its attention to the class of 2027, and with summer here for most high schools, the Tigers will start hosting recruits on official visits. It’s a good time to look at the players that Charles Huff and his staff are interested in, and it’s time to start looking at the cornerbacks in this class.

Huff spoke at length about the defensive backs during his introductory press conference, and his Golden Eagles’ team led the country in interceptions last season. He has done a great job targeting players who can make an impact in his system.

There are several interesting recruits, including a three-star who will be on campus on June 1 for an official visit.

Daniel Yebit (Yukon, OK)

Yebit is a four-star recruit and the No. 19 cornerback in the 2027 class. He has 17 total offers, and the Tigers offered him in early April.

The cornerback recorded 37 tackles, three tackles for loss and four interceptions during his junior season. He has only one official visit scheduled with Minnesota.

Dolph McDonald (Morton, MS)

Memphis offered McDonald in January, and he has already scheduled an official visit with Huff’s program. The cornerback will be on campus on June 1, and he will also take visits to Tulane, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Arkansas.

McDonald is a three-star recruit and the No. 35 cornerback in the class. McDonald recorded 31 tackles, a tackle for loss, five interceptions and four pass deflections in 10 games.

Trenton Blaylock (Humble, TX)

Blaylock was offered by the Tigers on Feb. 15, and he holds 37 offers, including 28 from Power Four programs. The cornerback is a three-star and the No. 49 recruit at his position, and he has four official visits set.

Carl Jones Jr. (Tampa, FL)

Jones is a three-star recruit and the No. 64 cornerback in the class, and the Tigers offered him in January. He has already set up five visits, and it seems like a long shot Memphis will land him.

Jones recorded 32 tackles, three interceptions and 16 pass deflections during his junior campaign.

Noah Gillespie (Broken Arrow, OK)

Gillespie is a three-star recruit and he holds 25 offers, including 15 offers from P4 programs. Huff’s staff offered him at Southern Miss, and he was one of the first players they offered after taking the job with the Tigers.

He has scheduled three official visits scheduled with Oklahoma State, UCLA and TCU, and it will be interesting to see if Memphis can land a visit.
