With spring practice in the rearview mirror, Memphis has turned its attention to the recruiting trail and the class of 2027. Charles Huff and his staff hosted numerous prospects on unofficial visits throughout spring practice, but they will soon begin hosting players on official visits.
After looking at all the positions on the offensive side of the ball, it’s time to look at the defense, and it starts with the edge rushers. The Tigers are targeting many edge rushers, and the prospects will be split up into three parts.
Here’s a look at the first six players that Memphis is targeting.
David Parson (Douglasville, GA)
Parson is listed as a three-star recruit and the No. 438 player in the class of 2027. Last season, he recorded 136 tackles, 28 tackles for loss and six sacks in nine games.
The edge rusher has set up four official visits, and he’s set to be in Memphis on June 15.
Antwan Jackson (Collierville, TN)
Jackson was re-offered by the new staff in January, but it appears he’s heading to a Power Four program. The edge is a four-star prospect and the No. 1 edge in Tennessee.
Jackson recorded 5.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss in 2025, and he has official visits set with Alabama, Ole Miss, Missouri and Tennessee.
Adekunbi Adetayo (Newark, NJ)
Adetayo picked up an offer from the Tigers on January 20, and he holds 24 offers, including multiple from Power Four programs. The edge has only set up two official visits, and it will be interesting to see if Memphis can set up a visit with the 6-foot-3, 230-pound prospect.
Adetayo is a three-star recruit, and he’s the No. 380 player in the country.
Ba’Roc Willis (Pell City, AL)
Willis was offered by the previous staff, and it’s unclear if Huff’s staff is actively recruiting him. Southern Miss offered him while Huff was in charge, but he has not announced that he has been “re-offered” by the Tigers.
Willis is a three-star recruit, and he posted 125 tackles, 23 tackles for loss and nine sacks as a junior. He has only set up two official visits so far.
Sedrick Marsh (Waxahachie, TX)
Marsh picked up an offer from Memphis in February, and he holds 21 offers. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound edge is ranked as a three-star recruit, and he recorded 34 tackles, five tackles for a loss and two sacks in 12 games last year.
Marsh has visits set with SMU and Oklahoma State.
Alex Johnson (Fort Mills, SC)
Johnson is a three-star recruit out of South Carolina, and he holds 19 offers. The edge recorded 60 tackles, seven sacks and 23 quarterback hurries last season.
He has visits set up with NC State, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Vanderbilt and Michigan, and it seems like a long shot for the Tigers to land him.
