2027 edge targets part 3 cover image

There are still a few months before football gets started, but the Memphis coaching staff is still busy recruiting players in the class of 2027.

After looking at the offensive side of the ball, it’s time to look at the defensive players who hold offers from Memphis. The Tigers have hired a ton of edge rushers, and it’s time to look at the final six recruits with offers from Charles Huff and his staff.

D’ante Seals (Trussville, AL)

The previous staff offered Seals, but Huff’s staff also offered the edge rusher while he was in charge at Southern Miss. Seals holds 18 offers, including seven Power Four offers, but he isn’t ranked by 247Sports.

The edge rusher recorded 47 tackles, six tackles for loss and two sacks in 10 games last season.

Dallas Pauldo (Murfreesboro, TN)

Pauldo is listed as a three-star by both 247Sports and Rivals, and he’s the No. 31 edge rusher, according to Rivals. Memphis offered Pauldo in February, and he took unofficial visits to Missouri, Georgia and Alabama.

Pauldo plays on both sides of the ball, starring at edge and receiver. The Murfreesboro, TN, native flashes his speed and athleticism at the edge position and easily gets to the backfield to make plays.

Javion Herrington (Lake Worth, FL)

Herrington was offered by the Tigers in early April, and it’s the most recent offer that the edge rusher has announced on his social media page. Herrington holds 20 offers, and he’s listed as a three-star recruit by Rivals.

The edge recorded 23 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss and three sacks in 15 games last year, according to MaxPreps.

Kelonnie Owens (Chicago Heights, IL)

Owens isn’t ranked by either recruiting service, and he has five FBS offers. Huff was the primary recruiter for Owens at Southern Miss, and the Tigers’ staff offered Owens shortly after taking over in Memphis.

In nine games last year, he recorded 45 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and four sacks, according to MaxPreps.

DJ Williams (Pinson, AL)

Williams was offered by Memphis on May 13, and he holds 15 FBS offers. Williams is not ranked by 247 or On3, and he recorded 80 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, seven sacks and an interception during his junior season.

Robert Taylor (Birmingham, AL)

Taylor is a three-star recruit and the No. 114 edge rusher, according to Rivals. He holds 13 offers, but it was the former staff who offered Taylor last year.

Taylor visited Memphis for the Arkansas game last year, and it’s unclear if the new staff is still recruiting him. The edge rusher recorded 70 tackles, nine tackles for loss and six sacks in 12 games last season.
