2027 safety targets:
With the summer getting started, Memphis has turned its attention to the class of 2027. After hosting players and coaches for the Memphis Mega Camp at the beginning of the month, the Tigers will begin hosting recruits on official visits throughout the next few months.
After looking at most of the players with offers from the Tigers, it’s time to look at the final safeties with offers from Charles Huff’s program.
Reggie Harris (Orlando, FL)
Harris holds 24 offers, and the Tigers offered him in late April. Most of his offers are from FCS or Group of Five programs, but he does hold offers from Arkansas and Wake Forest.
Harris recorded 51 tackles, two tackles for loss and recovered a fumble during his junior season. It doesn’t appear he has scheduled any official visits.
Kaston Lewis (Iowa, LA)
Lewis is a four-star safety in the class of 2027, according to the 247Sports composite rankings, and he holds 18 offers, according to his X account. He has scheduled four official visits with Houston, West Virginia, Tulane and Arkansas, and it will be interesting to see if the Tigers can land a visit with him.
As a junior, Lewis recorded 113 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 10 pass breakups and six interceptions for Iowa High School in Louisiana.
Landon Left (Nashville, TN)
Left isn’t ranked by 247Sports or On3, but he holds 18 offers, according to his X account. Memphis offered him in late January, and he took an unofficial visit to a spring practice in March.
Left doesn’t have any stats listed on MaxPreps for his junior season, but Pearl-Cohn went 10-5 with him last season. As a sophomore, he recorded 25 tackles and two interceptions for Pearl-Cohn.
Carl Tramble (Ferndale, MI)
Memphis offered Tramble in late March, and he holds seven offers, according to his social media profile. All his offers are from FBS programs, and Penn State and Pitt offered him in April.
Kadience Nelson (Memphis, TN)
Nelson has nine offers, and the Tigers offered him on January 22.
Hill Strong (Brentwood, TN)
Huff and his staff offered Strong at Southern Miss, and they offered him again shortly after taking over at Memphis. The safety has 16 offers, but it appears Huff and his staff have been in on him for a while.
Tayron Whitehead (Virginia Beach, VA)
Whitehead holds 16 D1 offers, and the Tigers offered him in late January. Like Strong, Huff’s staff offered Whitehead while they were in Hattiesburg, and it appears they were one of his first offers.
Cason Reed (Nashville, TN)
Reed holds eight offers, and it appears Memphis was his first offer in February. He took an unofficial visit to Western Kentucky in March, but he hasn’t announced any official visits.
As a junior, he recorded 50 tackles, three pass deflections and an interceptions for East Nashville Magnet.
