After the win over UT Martin, Charles Huff said one of the things his staff would be focused on this week is recruiting. While they will be focused on uncommitted players, it’s a good time to check in on the Tigers’ current commits.
Memphis has eight players committed in the class of 2027 after defensive lineman Joshua Lane decommitted last week. Huff has said that the 2027 class will be smaller than others around the country, but it will be interesting to see who else they will add before signing day.
According to 247Sports, Huff’s class ranks No. 93 in the country and No. 9 in the American. Here’s a look at the eight current commits and how they’re playing during their senior season.
QB Ethan Tisdale (Heard County High School)
Ethan Tisdale committed to the Tigers in May, and he said he chose to commit early so he could focus on football during his senior year instead of the recruiting side of things. He has led Heard County to a 5-0 record to start the season, and the Braves are currently ranked the No. 35 team in Georgia.
Stats have been recorded for Tisdale’s first four games, and he’s completed 70.7 percent of his passes for 735 yards, 14 touchdowns and no interceptions. He has also added 375 yards and six touchdowns with his legs.
IOL Bryson Sanderson (Oxford High School)
Bryson Sanderson committed to Memphis on June 21, and he’s currently the top rated player in the class. At 6-foot-5 and 285 pounds, Sanderson is a three-star recruit and stars on Oxford High School’s offensive line.
The Yellow Jackets are 4-2 and the No. 18 team in Alabama. Sanderson is anchoring an offense that is averaging 28.8 points per game.
WR Aubrey Johnson (C.E. King High School)
Aubrey Johnson committed to the Tigers on June 14, flipping him from Florida Atlantic. The wide receiver attended North Shore last year but transferred to C.E. King High School for his senior season.
The Panthers are 4-1 and the No. 8 team in Texas. Johnson has recorded 162 yards on 16 catches through four games.
IOL Tyi Duncan (Riverdale High School)
Tyi Duncan committed to the Tigers on June 24, and he’s listed as a three-star recruit. Riverdale High School is 5-1 and the No. 27 team in Tennessee.
Duncan is part of an offense averaging 42.2 points per game, including a 45-13 win over Columbia Central on Friday.
CB Malik Dean (Whitehaven High School)
Malik Dean committed to Memphis on June 14 after an official visit, and he’s spending his senior season at Whitehaven High School in Memphis. Dean is listed as a cornerback by the recruiting services, but he plays both sides for Whitehaven and has been a real threat as a receiver.
Whitehaven is 5-1 and ranked No. 22 in Tennessee.
OT Jonathan Toney (West Laurens High School)
Jonathan Toney is an offensive tackle from Georgia who stands at 6-foot-6 and 285 pounds, and he’s listed as a three-star recruit. Toney is planning on enrolling at Memphis in January.
Toney’s team is 2-3, but they picked up a 21-0 win on Friday.
CB Bradley Stamper (University School of Jackson)
Bradley Stamper committed on June 23, and he has been in attendance for both of the Tigers’ home games this year. Stamper plays both sides for University School of Jackson and has helped lead the Bruins to a 5-1 record.
Stamper has recorded 38 receiving yards and eight tackles this season.
IOL Gage Luther (Prontotoc High School)
Gage Luther committed on June 14, and he’s listed at 6-foot-5 and 300 pounds. Pontotoc High School is 4-0 and the No. 45 team in Mississippi, and Luther is helping on an offense that is averaging 31.8 points per game.
