Shortly after the final rounds of the NFL Draft, a couple of Memphis players signed as unrestricted free agents. According to reports, Cortez Braham is set to sign with the Baltimore Ravens, while Greg Desrosiers will sign with the Los Angeles Chargers.
Desrosiers will be reunited with offensive lineman Travis Burke, who was drafted in the fourth round of the NFL Draft.
The running back started his career at Louisville before transferring to UMass, where he saw his first collegiate snaps. After two seasons with the Minutemen, Desrosiers transferred again and landed at Memphis.
In his first season, he ran for 228 yards and three touchdowns on 31 carries, but injuries limited him to only seven games. As a senior, he recorded 563 yards and seven touchdowns on 99 carries, but he was limited throughout the season with a foot injury.
Desrosiers’ best game came on the road against Florida Atlantic, when he ran for 204 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries.
Desrosiers joins a deep running backs room in Los Angeles, and it’ll be interesting to see if he can make a name for himself during camp.
CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz reported that Braham is expected to sign with the Ravens after going undrafted. Baltimore drafted two wide receivers in the draft, Ja’Kobi Lane and Elijah Sarratt, so it’s unclear what role Braham will play in the Raven’s future plans.
At 6-foot-2, 197 pounds, Braham would give the Ravens size, and he has a good chance to find a role on the practice squat, at the very least.
The wide receiver started his career at Hutchinson Community College before landing at West Virginia. He spent two seasons with the Mountaineers before transferring again to Nevada, where he had three 100-yard receiving games.
Braham followed quarterback Brendon Lewis to Memphis, and he recorded 889 yards and eight touchdowns on 63 receptions, leading the team in all three categories.
He finished the season with three 100-yard games, including back-to-back 100-yard games against Arkansas and FAU.
While he is off the the NFL, Braham still has a legal case against the NCAA, and the NCAA could punish Memphis for playing Braham during the 2025 season.
As of Saturday night, Braham and Desrosiers were the only two players to sign with NFL teams after the draft concluded. Several other players could land on rosters, including Chris Adams, who was invited to the NFL combine but went undrafted.
