Memphis has seen a lot of roster turnover over the last few seasons, and 14 former Tigers are still playing college basketball. Out of the 14 players, eight players still have eligibility remaining, including PJ Haggerty, and it’ll be interesting to see if Penny Hardaway tries to bring any of his former players back for the 2026-27 season.

Three former players are participating in the postseason, including a pair of guys who will appear in the NCAA Tournament.

Antwann Jones (UNC Greensboro)

Antwann Jones played for the Tigers in the 2018-19 season, and he just wrapped up his final season of eligibility. Jones has battled injuries throughout his career, and he has played only played 40 games in the last five seasons.

This season, he only appeared in seven games, and he averaged 3.5 points and 2.1 rebounds in 11.4 minutes per game before suffering an injury.

John Camden (Cal)

Camden spent his freshman season at Memphis before transferring to Virginia Tech. After two seasons with the Hokies, the shooting guard spent his junior season at Delaware before spending his final season at California.

Camden is averaging 13.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists, and he’s shooting 39.8 percent from deep in 32 games this season. Cal missed the NCAA tournament, but they accepted a bid for the NIT and will play UIC on Tuesday.

Sam Onu (Alabama A&M)

Onu also spent his freshman season at Memphis and redshirted before hitting the transfer portal. The big man landed at Florida Gulf Coast and elected to go to a JUCO after not playing much in the A-Sun.

Onu has played in the SWAC the last two seasons with Grambling State and this year at Alabama A&M. With the Bulldogs, Ono appeared in 17 games, but he only averaged 6.5 minutes per game.

Johnathan Lawson (Little Rock)

Lawson has spent the last two seasons at Little Rock following stops with the Tigers and at Creighton. The guard saw limited time at both stops, but he found a massive role with the Trojans.

Lawson started 31 games, and he averaged 16.2 points, 4.1 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.7 steals in 37.7 minutes per game.

Carl Cherenfant (McNeese)

Cherenfant spent this season with McNeese, his third school in three years, and he averaged 4.3 points and 3.1 rebounds in 32 games this season. McNeese finished a 28-5 season and won the Southland Conference.

Cherenfant and the Cowboys received a 12 seed, and they will play Vanderbilt in the first round on Thursday.

JJ Taylor (NIU)

Taylor transferred to NIU after playing 25 games with UCF last season. Taylor only played three games for NIU before suffering a season-ending injury.

The guard averaged 8.7 points and 2.7 rebounds in those three games.

Mikey Williams (Sacramento State)

Williams never joined the team during the 2023-24 season, and he spent his freshman year at UCF. Williams transferred to Sacramento State to play for Mike Bibby, but he was in and out of the roster due to injuries.

The point guard averaged 17.1 points, 3 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.2 steals, but he shot 36.3 percent from the field and 26.5 percent from deep.

Damarien Yates (Alabama State)

Yates appeared off the bench in all 32 games for Alabama State this season, and he averaged 6.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 17 minutes per game.

Jared Harris (Wyoming)

Harris transferred to Wyoming after his freshman season at Memphis last year, but he only appeared in 12 games due to injuries. He averaged 9.8 minutes per game, and he averaged four points and 2.4 rebounds in those 12 games.

PJ Haggerty (Kansas State)

Haggerty spent his junior season at Kansas State, and he averaged 23.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. The Wildcats made the decision in early February to fire head coach Jerome Tang, and it’s likely Haggerty will enter the transfer portal again prior to his senior season.

Dante Harris (Tennessee State)

Harris joined the Tigers in the middle of last season, appearing in 16 games, and he transferred to Tennessee State for his final year of eligibility. Harris played a massive role for the Tigers this season and averaged 11.7 points, 4.6 assists and 3.7 rebounds per game.

Harris played for Nolan Smith, who took the Tennessee State job after spending time on Hardaway’s staff, and the Tigers made the tournament after winning the OVC. Smith’s team will play Iowa State on Friday in the first round.

Baraka Okojie (Mercer)

Okojie only averaged 11.4 minutes per game for Memphis last season, and he decided to hit the portal again, landing at Mercer for his junior season. Okojie started all 31 games and averaged 19.7 points, 5.3 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game.

The point guard was named first-team All-Conference.

PJ Carter (LSU)

Carter spent his final collegiate season at LSU, and he averaged 10.5 minutes in 26 games, including one start. The guard averaged four points per game, and he shot 33.7 percent from deep.

Bouna Kebe (Delaware)

Kebe spent this season at Delaware, but he only appeared in 14 games. Kebe averaged 1.2 points and one rebound in 5.8 minutes per game.
