Charles Huff and his staff will start June with a busy Monday, and it will be the start of a busy summer. Memphis is set to host cornerback Dolph McDonald on an official visit and many other players and coaches for the Memphis football mega camp.
The mega camp is open to players from 9th to 12th grade, and there are sessions for all positions. The camp will have coaches from more than 30 schools, including Ohio State, Oregon, Indiana, Boston College, Minnesota and LSU.
The Tigers will get a good look at players that are mostly in the area, and it’s a perfect opportunity to add any players who they might not be currently interested in.
While the mega camp is going on, Memphis will also be hosting Dolph McDonald on an official visit.
McDonald is a three-star cornerback and the No. 35 player at his position in the class of 2027. He holds 20 offers, and the Tigers offered him in late January.
According to 247Sports, he was offered by Colorado in September, and he committed to Deion Sanders’ program in December, but he decommitted a month later. Since decommitting from Colorado, the cornerback has picked up offers from Kansas State, Arkansas, Texas Tech, UCF, Missouri, LSU, Florida and Mississippi State, among others.
McDonald set all five of his official visits, and he’s currently in Fayetteville for a visit with Ryan Silverfield’s program. After he wraps up that visit, he will head to Memphis for another official visit on June 1.
The cornerback will finish his visit with the Tigers and head to New Orleans to visit Tulane, and he will take his final two visits during the week of June 12-19 at Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
McDonald plays at Morton High School in Mississippi, and he has played 30 games over the last three seasons. He has recorded 147 total tackles, six tackles for loss, 15 interceptions and 17 pass deflections throughout his high school career.
As a junior, he recorded 31 tackles, a tackle for loss, five interceptions and four pass deflections in 10 games, according to MaxPreps.
While he’s one of the first players to take an official visit to Memphis this summer, Huff and his staff are set to host many prospects over the next few weeks. The Tigers have one commit in the class of 2027, and it will be interesting to see if they’re able to land more commits over the next month.
