Memphis continues to add to its roster out of the transfer portal, and the program announced the signing of three defensive players on Wednesday. Brothers Xavier and KJ Miles, who both played in the American last season, and defensive back Khalil Foster, who played at Southern Miss last season, join the program and take the total incoming transfers to 19.
The Tigers continue to add defensive players, and 13 of the 19 current signees play on the defensive side of the ball. Huff also brought in another former Golden Eagle player, taking that number up to 13 players who played in Hattiesburg last season.
Memphis brought in a pair of brothers who both play on the defensive line. KJ Miles spent the last three seasons at Temple, where he recorded 36 tackles over the last two seasons.
KJ started his career at Georgia Tech, where he redshirted, before transferring to Temple. After transferring, KJ missed the entire 2023 season with an injury before becoming a key part of Temple’s defensive line rotation.
KJ will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
KJ’s younger brother, Xavier, also signed with Memphis after spending last season at Charlotte. Xavier appeared in 11 games for the 49ers this season and recorded 17 tackles, including four tackles against South Florida and East Carolina.
Before transferring to Charlotte, Xavier signed as a three-star recruit to Syracuse, but redshirted in the 2024 season. Xavier will have three years of eligibility remaining.
Memphis also signed defensive back Khalil Foster, who spent his freshman season at Southern Miss last year. Foster, who signed as a three-star recruit from Brindidge, Alabama, redshirted last year and will have four years of eligibility remaining.
The defensive back was an All-State product at Pike County High School and has the look of a young safety that the coaching staff has already started developing, and he could grow into a key piece at Memphis.
