Memphis has added another player on the defensive side of the ball with the addition of JUCO defensive end Gary Green Jr. Green announced that he was signing to the Tigers on social media on Thursday, but Memphis has yet to officially announce his signing.

Green spent the past two seasons at Central Georgia tech, a community college in Macon, and helped lead the team to a 7-4 record in 2025.

The Georgia native attended Creekside High School before starting his collegiate career at Southwestern Oklahoma State. Green appeared in three games at Southwestern Oklahoma State during the 2023 season, and he recorded one tackle in those three appearances.

After his lone season at the division-II program, Green enrolled at Central Georgia tech as a redshirt freshman and recorded 15 sacks and six forced tackles during his first season. After the season, Green elected to return to the Titans for a second season and make the jump before the 2026 season.

In 2025, Green appeared in 10 games and finished the year with 35 tackles, 22 sacks and two forced fumbles.

Green was a mainstay in opponents’ backfields, and he recorded three or more sacks in three games this season. The 22 sacks led the JUCO ranks, and he was named the team’s MVP at the end of the season, according to his social media.

Green is the 53rd player to sign with Memphis since the transfer portal opened, and he’s the 26th defensive player to sign with the Tigers. Charles Huff and his staff have brought in a ton of defensive lineman since the transfer portal opened, and Green is the 14th defensive linemen to sign with Memphis.

At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, Green is versatile enough to play defensive end or a linebacker position. Green just wrapped up his redshirt sophomore season, and he’ll have two years of eligibility remaining.
