Fresh off a recruiting surge, Mario Cristobal targets LSU commit Jaiden Bryant. The elite edge rusher’s recent visit suggests the Miami Hurricanes could secure another massive five-star flip.
Miami, FL. – The Miami Hurricanes have gained tremendous success on the high school recruiting trail, securing commitments from four-stars Noah Glover (linebacker) and DeMarco Jenkins (defensive tackle) on Sunday evening. The current 2027 group has 16 players–ranked the third-best in the nation, according to 247Sports. Both newly committed recruits took an official visit to the Coral Gables campus and facility on Friday, May 29, but another prolific prospect tagged along and could look to join.
South Carolina native Jaiden Bryant is a five-star edge rusher and currently attends Irmo High School–a public institution in Lexington County. In three seasons, he’s stacked 204 total tackles, 106 solos and 98 assists, 41 tackles for loss, 27.5 sacks, 15 hurries, and a 25-yard interception, playing in 13 total games, according to MaxPreps.
The five-star recruit originally committed to the LSU Tigers on Jan 3. It would’ve been easier for him to cancel all future visits with other interested programs, but that’s not what happened. He did a photo session with the Hurricanes and wore a full uniform. Bryant did another one wearing a University of Miami-themed bomber jacket, alongside defensive line coach Jayson Taylor.
Along on the visit was local native and five-star wide receiver Nick Lennear.
The Hurricanes had recent success with two prolific edge rushers in Akheem Mesidor and Rueben Bain Jr.–both first-round selections in the 2026 NFL Draft. They were dominant forces at the line of scrimmage, causing havoc from both sides of the field. Despite the departures, the Hurricanes have other edge rushers who are looking to carry over the success: Damon Wilson II, Marquise Lightfood, and Hayden Lowe.
Bryant still has an opportunity to be a part of the latest success in Coral Gables. He has other official visits lined up this month:
- June 5: Texas A&M
- June 12: South Carolina (Gamecocks)
Bryant is listed at 6-4, 245 pounds, and ranked 20th nationally, second among edge rushers, and the best player in South Carolina for the 2027 class, according to 247Sports Composite. He received interest and scholarship offers from 20-plus programs, including the Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Alabama Crimson Tide, North Carolina State Wolfpack, Ole Miss Rebels, and Texas Longhorns, among several others.
The Hurricanes already flipped a five-star recruit in former Georgia Bulldogs commit and cornerback Donte Wright. The program might find repeated success with Bryant, but the next step will be to play the waiting game before another update.
