Four-star wide receiver Anthony Jennings eyes the Miami Hurricanes among top programs, drawn by emerging talent and strong local ties.

The Miami Hurricanes aren't known for being "Wide Receiver University," but that could turn around after the emergence of star Malachi Toney. He's coming off a historic freshman season: leading the nation with 109 catches for 1,211 yards and scoring 10 touchdowns, playing in all 16 games. After growing alongside veterans CJ Daniels and Keelan Marion, the 18-year-old will take over the program's wide receiver room for next season.

Toney has set the Hurricanes up to be an attraction for high school recruits, including four-star Anthony Jennings. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native is ranked 29th among the position and 22nd in the state for the recruiting class of 2027, according to 247Sports Composite. He's eyeing four major programs: the Hurricanes, Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, and Auburn Tigers.

Jennings currently attends Dillard High School, which is in the Broward County area. In two seasons, he's caught 55 passes for 1,389 yards, scoring 19 touchdowns in 19 total games. The junior wide receiver has shown great versatility, playing as a cornerback on defense and a kick returner on special teams.

Jennings has several official visits scheduled throughout the summer, including the Gators, Bulldogs, Tigers, and Florida State Seminoles.

There are no reports about meeting with the Hurricanes, but the program has a great track record with players from the Fort Lauderdale area: star running back Mark Fletcher Jr., defensive linemen Armondo Blount, cornerback OJ Frederique Jr., and defensive lineman Ahmad Moten Sr. are current examples.

Toney might not be with the team beyond next season, depending on NFL draft stock status and any potential transfer portal factors. Regardless, that would present an opportunity for others to step up.

Four-star Somourian Wingo is an incoming freshman as part of a top-10-ranked 2026 recruiting class in the nation. Also, the Hurricanes landed a commitment from four-star recruit Ah'Mari Stevens, who's part of the class of 2027. These are excellent talents that Jennings could share the field with.

A campus visit could go a long way for the Hurricanes in the recruiting process, especially without a clear frontrunner. Coach Mario Cristobal has taken pride in developing players, especially from their own backyard. Jennings would be a great addition to a program that looks to compete for National Championships for years to come.

The Hurricanes have established a new standard and culture coming off a historic run in the College Football Playoffs. Jennings will have time to evaluate every option before reaching a final decision and announcing his commitment.
