Dominant four-star lineman Sean Tatum fuels the Miami Hurricanes' future. He's poised to fortify the trenches and bolster a promising 2027 recruiting class.

The Miami Hurricanes football program continues to carve out a brighter future, especially securing Sean Tatum’s commitment. He’s a four-star elite interior offensive lineman who currently attends John Carroll High School, a private co-educational institution located in Fort Pierce, Florida. The prospect is listed at 6-5, 315 pounds, and ranked 145th nationally, ninth among his position, and 15th in the state for the 2027 recruiting class, according to Rivals Industry Rankings.

“For the next three to four years, I’ll be going to the University of Miami,” he said on a live Instagram stream.

Tatum received interest and offers from numerous programs, including the Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, South Florida Bulls, Ohio State Buckeyes, South Carolina Gamecocks, Georgia Bulldogs, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Auburn Tigers, Nebraska Cornhuskers, and Baylor Bears, alongside others.

Hurricanes offensive line coach Alex Mirabal primarily recruited the four-star prospect and hosted several visits, including one during spring training. After originally electing to announce his commitment on July 10, with four programs in the running, a decision came in advance.

Tatum joins a 2027 recruiting class group that consists of elite talent in wide receivers Nick Lennear and Ah’Mari Stevens and four-star quarterback Israel Abrams.

Coming off a National Championship appearance, the Hurricanes’ offensive line played a pivotal role in the success. The lineup consisted of left tackle Markel Bell, right guard Anez Cooper, center James Brockermeyer, and All-American right tackle Francis Mauigoa, all of whom declared for the upcoming NFL Draft. Despite the departures, the reshaped offensive line is expected to carry on the production, which will likely feature five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell.

After Tatum’s commitment, the Hurricanes are on pace to have a top-10 2027 recruiting class in the nation. After a historic season, the turnaround is taking effect on and off the field.

Once on the roster, the Florida native will have an opportunity to gain reps at each position in the offensive line before finding an established role.

The Hurricanes seek to remain competitive among the best in the nation and securing elite high school talent plays a role in sustaining success. Tatum’s development as an offensive lineman will be critical for the program’s future. Learning under coach Mirabal will unlock opportunities for him.

When the 2027-28 season approaches, the team’s roster will feature a pair of elite talents at the line of scrimmage in Tatum and Cantwell. The Hurricanes' identity of dominating matchups in the trenches remains strong.
