The Miami Hurricanes continue to aggressively attack high school recruiting following a National Championship run less than a month ago. Despite the level of uncertainty in college sports, especially with the transfer portal, incoming freshmen can still deliver an immediate impact. They had three standouts last season in running back Girard Pringle Jr., safety Bryce Fitzgerald, and star wide receiver Malachi Toney.
As the next recruits step in, the Hurricanes are building towards a strong 2027 class, hoping to land four-star linebacker Noah Glover. He currently attends Battlefield High School, ranked among the top-10 players in the state of Virginia and at his position.
It was reported on Tuesday, Feb. 10, that Glover is deciding between six programs: the Hurricanes, Oregon Ducks, Georgia Bulldogs, Texas A&M Aggies, and Virginia Tech Hokies.
The young linebacker had a productive sophomore season: 14 total tackles, 13 solos and one assist, two tackles for loss, three sacks, and two interceptions in eight games.
Glover made the Under Armour All-American Game and played for Team Roses.
The high school junior is quick on his feet, a strong tackler, and can make plays.
Coach Mario Cristobal has successfully turned the program around defensively, especially with the help of defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman last season.
The Hurricanes have yet to host an official visit with Glover. He's made unofficial visits with the Clemson Tigers and Michigan Wolverines, but neither program will likely receive a commitment. Glover has yet to make an official visit to any of the programs he has narrowed down on his list.
The Hokies could be the biggest attraction for the local linebacker star. Glover lives approximately 230 miles away in Haymarket, Virginia, from the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg. They hired James Franklin as the new head coach of the football program after spending 12 seasons with the Penn State Natty Lions, making a bowl game in 10 of them.
However, they only reached the College Football Playoffs once in 2024, going as far as the Orange Bowl semifinals, but suffered a 27-24 loss against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
In terms of opportunities to play, the Hurricanes and Bulldogs have more wiggle room for Glover to potentially crack the rotation immediately. Regardless, there's still plenty of time before he makes a decision and announces a commitment.
However, the Hurricanes may have more work to do to have a fighting chance to land Glover.
