A Louisiana athlete with dual-threat potential could bolster the Miami Hurricanes' top-tier 2027 class. Where will this four-star talent land Monday?

The Miami Hurricanes remain aggressive on the recruiting trail as the 2027 group is already considered among the best in the nation. They will have an opportunity to add more talent, such as Braylon Calais. He’s a four-star athlete who attends Cecilia High School, a public institution located in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. The junior has competed in basketball and track. On the football field, he has experience playing at wide receiver, running back, and defensive back.

Calais is set to announce an official decision on Monday, April 20. There are six final programs in the running: Ole Miss Rebels, Houston Cougars, Texas A&M Aggies, Ohio State Buckeyes, Louisiana Tigers, and Hurricanes.

The highly-touted prospect is listed at 6-2, 200 pounds, and ranked 124th nationally, fifth among athletes, and seventh in the state of Louisiana for the 2027 recruiting class, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. He’s received interest and offers from the Baylor Bears, Kentucky Wildcats, Syracuse Orange, TCU Horned Frogs, UCLA Bruins, USC Trojans, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Sacramento State Hornets, and Tulane Green Wave, along with others.

Calais only attended a school camp with the Hurricanes on June 10, 2024. The biggest threat to his recruiting process is the Tigers. The Baton Rouge campus is approximately 46 miles away from his hometown. The program underwent significant changes after the firing of Brian Kelly and the hiring of Lane Kiffin, who left Ole Miss ahead of the College Football Playoffs.

Regardless of where the four-star recruit commits to, it’s likely he won’t be playing on both sides of the field. Given the background in track, Calais would likely play either at running back or wide receiver.

Coming off a National Championship appearance, the Hurricanes have grabbed the attention of several prospects. They have a 2027 recruiting class that consists of elite talent, such as interior offensive lineman Sean Tatum, wide receivers Nick Lennear and Ah’Mari Stevens, and quarterback Israel Abrams.

The Tigers are currently unranked for the 2027 recruiting class, according to Rivals, with only two hard commits from four-star edge rusher Jaiden Bryant and four-star quarterback Peyton Houston. The Aggies and Buckeyes are within the top 10, the same as the Hurricanes.

As a decision is looming, it is unclear at the moment of streaming details to watch Calais’ commitment. It will mark a significant moment for him and close family members.

The Hurricanes will be on the lookout as spring football reaches the finale.
