A dynamic four-star receiver weighs his options between four elite programs. The Miami Hurricanes aim to secure this explosive playmaker with family ties.

The Miami Hurricanes continue to build a heavily talented 2027 recruiting class after securing four-star quarterback Israel Abrams' commitment on Friday. As the program continues to host official and unofficial visits with high school recruits, there are a few near a decision, including Jaden Upshaw. He’s a four-star wide receiver who currently attends Lee County High School, a public institution located in Leesburg, Georgia.

Upshaw caught 125 passes for 1,964 yards, scoring 22 touchdowns in 32 total games over three seasons. He’s capable of creating gaps for others, recording 14 pancake blocks.

It was reported on Friday, April 3, that the four-star recruit will announce his commitment on Wednesday, April 15. There are four programs in the final race: Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas A&M Aggies, Florida Gators, and Hurricanes.

Upshaw is listed at 6-2, 202 pounds, and ranked 64th nationally, 11th among wide receivers, and fifth in the state of Georgia for the class of 2027, according to 247Sports Composite. He received interest and offers from numerous programs, including the Florida State Seminoles, South Florida Bulls, Auburn Tigers, Tennessee Volunteers, USC Trojans, Georgia Bulldogs, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, LSU Tigers, Louisville Cardinals, reigning National Champion Indiana Hoosiers, North Carolina Tar Heels, South Carolina Gamecocks, Ole Miss Rebels, Texas Longhorns, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and others.

The Hurricanes have an opportunity to add another explosive playmaker to the group, which already features a couple of elite wide receivers in Nick Lennear and Ah’Mari Stevens.

The program gained the attention of several high school recruits who play the position following homegrown star Malachi Toney’s historic freshman season: catching a nation’s high 109 passes for 1,211 yards, scoring 13 total touchdowns.

Interesting fact: Upshaw is cousins with Hurricanes sophomore wide receiver Daylyn Upshaw, who returned following a limited freshman season. He caught seven passes for 105 yards in seven game appearances. The 18-year-old didn’t appear in the College Football Playoffs due to a foot injury.

The four-star recruit has an opportunity to get closer to a family member.

Coming off a National Championship, the Hurricanes seek to remain competitive in the long run. Part of staying in contention status is recruiting and developing top high-school talent. Upshaw could join a program that’s completely transformed.

The Georgia native took unofficial visits with each of the final four programs.

Upshaw is set to announce his commitment live on the CBS Sports College Football YouTube channel at 2:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
