Mario Cristobal lures elite pass rusher Jaiden Bryant away from LSU, bolting a top-three recruiting class and pairing the South Carolina star with Hall of Famer Jason Taylor.
Miami, Fla. – In the past week, the Miami Hurricanes have continued to stack future talent. After earning commitments from a couple of four-star recruits in Noah Glover (linebacker) and DeMarco Jenkins (defensive tackle), the class of 2027 continues to climb the ranks among the nation’s best.
The trend continues to travel upwards after the program successfully flipped five-star edge rusher Jaiden Bryant from the LSU Tigers. He took an official visit around the Coral Gables campus and facility this past Friday, May 29. After posting pictures of himself in a full Hurricanes uniform, there were hints of a potential flip–as it’s now happened.
Bryant currently attends Irmo High School, a public institution located in Lexington County, South Carolina. In three seasons, he’s logged 204 total tackles, 106 solos and 98 assists, 41 tackles for loss, 27.5 sacks, 14 hurries, and a 25-yard interception in 34 total games, according to MaxPreps.
In the five-star’s rise in the recruitment process, several programs expressed interest and presented a scholarship offer, including the Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Alabama Crimson Tide, Texas A&M Aggies, Michigan Wolverines, Texas Tech Red Raiders, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, North Carolina State Wolfpack, and SMU Mustangs, among several others.
Bryant is listed at 6-3, 260 pounds, and ranked 29th nationally, fourth among edge rushers, and the best player in the state of South Carolina for the 2027 recruiting class, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. He has an NIL value estimated at $358,000.
The Hurricanes are now up to 18 commits, including three five-stars: cornerback Donte Wright, wide receiver Nick Lennear, and Bryant. The group is ranked the third best in the nation with a 93.29 score, according to On3.
Bryant will follow a recent successful destination for edge rushers.
After having two dominant forces with Akeem Mesidor and All-American Rueben Bain Jr.–both playing critical roles in the National Championship run–they went on to be first-rounders in the 2026 NFL Draft. Despite the departures, the Hurricanes still have a couple of in-house talents, such as Hayden Lowe and Marquise Lightfoot, plus Missouri transfer Damon Wilson II, looking to fill the voids.
Bryant is going to develop directly under defensive line coach and Pro Football Hall of Famer Jason Taylor. He’s already proven to be a physical specimen. The talent is only going to rise once full acclimated to the program.
The five-star recruit will shut down all recruiting and cancel future official visits.
