Speedy playmaker Nick Lennear narrows his choices to five, with the Miami Hurricanes making a strong push for the dynamic four-star receiver.
As the Miami Hurricanes continue to recruit talented high school prospects and schedule visits, Nick Lennear is among the most intriguing. The four-star wide receiver is currently ranked 14th nationally, fourth in his position, and second in the state of Florida for the class of 2027, according to 247Sports Composite.
Lennear previously attended Northwestern High School, a public institution in Miami, before transferring to Miami Carol City Senior High School ahead of his senior year. He's caught 62 passes for 1,090 yards, 17.6 yards per catch, scoring 18 total touchdowns in 22 games over three seasons.
The four-star recruit showed versatility, playing on defense and special teams. Lennear recorded eight total tackles, seven solos and an assist, plus grabbing an interception. Also, he returned six kicks for 208 yards.
The Florida prospect received interest and offers from numerous programs, including the Colorado Buffaloes, Georgia Bulldogs, Michigan Wolverines, and Oregon Ducks, among many others.
However, it was reported on Thursday that Lennear narrowed down his list to five: Florida State Seminoles, Texas A&M Aggies, LSU Tigers, Syracuse Orange, and Hurricanes.
The four-star prospect is known as a dynamic playmaker who possesses great speed, can block for others, and can make difficult catches.
Lennear made a few unofficial visits with some of the programs, including four with the Hurricanes. It could be an early indication of which direction the recruiting process is going. They've had great success with developing homegrown talent, including star edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr., who's projected to be an early first-round selection in the upcoming NFL Draft.
Plus, star wide receiver Malachi Toney had a historic freshman season. The Liberty City native led the nation with 109 catches for 1,211 yards, scoring 13 total touchdowns.
Lennear participated in the Navy All-American Bowl game on Jan. 10 at San Antonio, Texas. He caught six passes for 48 yards, scoring a touchdown for Team East, who secured a 17-14 victory over Team West.
The Hurricanes can secure the commitment of an explosive wide receiver who has shown the will to do what's best for the team, similar to Toney. Coming off a National Championship appearance, the program seeks to remain competitive. Lennear gives them a great chance to accomplish that, who has an official visit scheduled for May 29. It could be the difference-maker to pull away in the recruiting process.
However, Lennear could schedule official visits with the other programs to help decide what's best for his future.
