Mario Cristobal plucks 330-pound powerhouse Jatori Williams from Alabama’s backyard, beating out SEC giants to bolster a top-five 2027 recruiting class and fortify the Miami Hurricanes' dominant offensive front.
Miami, FL. – The Miami Hurricanes’ 2027 recruiting class continues to shape up among the best in the nation. After flipping four-star cornerback Donte Wright and securing three-star local edge rusher Jayvon Dawson’s commitment last week, the program has gained significant momentum on the high-school recruiting trail. Missing out on local five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews delivered no derailment, but rather a surge.
The Hurricanes will add another big body to the trenches in four-star interior offensive lineman Jatori Williams, who committed on Thursday afternoon. He chose the Coral Gables program over the Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama Crimson Tide, Kentucky Wildcats, and Florida State Seminoles.
Williams currently attends Central High School, a public institution located in Phenix City, Alabama. He is listed at 6-5, 330 pounds, and ranked 105th nationally, ninth among interior offensive linemen, and fourth in the state for the 2027 class, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. Williams originally committed to the University of Alabama on Sept. 29, 2025, then backed out a couple of months later.
There were other program who expressed interest and presented scholarship offers, including the Florida Gators, Auburn Tigers, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Ohio State Buckeyes, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Ole Miss Rebels, Tennessee Volunteers, Mississippi State Bulldogs, and Missouri Tigers, among others.
The four-star recruit had summer official visits scheduled with the other out-of-state finalists. However, Williams’ decision came beforehand, likely to cancel them.
The Hurricanes are known to prioritize dominating matchups in the trenches, especially with coach Mario Cristobal at the helm. The team gave up only 20 total sacks this past season, which ranked No. 16 best in the Football Bowl Subdivision. Three offensive linemen from the starting unit were selected in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Williams primarily played on the left side at the line of scrimmage, including at tackle. He was recruited by offensive line coach Alex Mirabal on behalf of the Coral Gables program. The Hurricanes are looking to remain dominant in the trenches. It played a significant role in reaching the National Championship game this past season. Despite losing key offensive linemen, the program is confident in the new talent preparing to take over, including five-star freshman Jackson Cantwell.
The Hurricanes’ 2027 group is now up to 14 hard commits, ranked the fifth-best in the nation, with a 93.41 class score.
Despite having an opportunity to play close to home, Williams delivers a big body to South Florida, looking to block defenders and display great resilience.
