Mario Cristobal continues a dominant recruiting tear, landing North Carolina’s elite two-way standout to bolster a 2027 class that now ranks among the top five programs nationally.
Miami, FL. – Following the commitment of four-star interior offensive lineman and Alabama native Jatori Williams, the Miami Hurricanes continue to dominate the high-school recruiting trail. The program quickly added four-star linebacker Aroson “AJ” Randle to the 2027 group, which now includes five top-100 prospects, according to 247Sports Composite.
“They [Miami] just did an awesome job in recruiting me,” he said. “The staff was excellent, coach [Mario] Cristobal and coach [Corey] Hetherman–from top to bottom, they did everything right by me.”
Randle currently attends Garner High School, a public institution located in Wake County, North Carolina. As a junior, he logged snaps on both sides of the field, primarily as an outside linebacker, and 84 total tackles, all solos, six tackles for loss, a sack, and an interception in 13 games. Randle logged 248 total yards as a quarterback, receiver, and running back.
Ahead of Thursday’s commitment announcement, six programs were listed in the final running: North Carolina State Wolfpack, Ohio State Buckeyes, South Carolina Gamecocks, Georgia Bulldogs, Florida Gators, and Hurricanes.
Randle had future summer official visits scheduled with the out-of-Carolinas program finalists, along with the Oregon Ducks. However, those will likely be cancelled.
The four-star recruit is listed at 6-3, 215 pounds, and ranked 95th nationally, sixth among linebackers, and fifth in North Carolina for the 2027 class, according to 247Sports Composite. He received interest and scholarship offers from numerous programs, including the Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Baylor Bears, Louisville Cardinals, Michigan Wolverines, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Ole Miss Rebels, Pitt Panthers, Tennessee Volunteers, Texas A&M Aggies, Virginia Tech Hokies, Wake Forest Demon Deacons, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and SMU Mustangs, among several others.
The Hurricanes are now up to 15 hard commits, including 11 five or four-star recruits. The group is ranked the fourth-best in the nation, according to 247Sports.
Coming off the National Championship game, the program never slowed down from building off the latest success. There are still several other highly-touted recruits who could look to join the Coral Gables program, especially with summer visits lining up to take a look around the campus and facility. Plus, a few flipping candidates continue to emerge, such as four-star wide receiver Eli Woodard.
There are still a couple of months before the Hurricanes open fall camp. However, the work behind the scenes doesn’t slow down. Randle will be looking to deliver a brighter future for the Hurricanes, along with several other talented recruits.
