Fort Lauderdale cornerback Jaden Carey visits the Miami Hurricanes' championship-contending program, potentially solidifying his decision among top offers.

Coming off a National Championship appearance, the Miami Hurricanes will have opportunities to recruit homegrown prospects and land them for the future, including Jaden Carey. He’s a three-star cornerback who currently attends St. Thomas Aquinas High School, a private, Catholic, college-preparatory institution located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The high school junior recorded 77 total tackles, 55 solos and 22 assists, and seven interceptions in 32 total games over three seasons.

The three-star prospect is scheduled to visit the Hurricanes on Saturday, April 4.

Carey is listed at six feet, 137 pounds, and ranked 403rd nationally, 44th among cornerbacks, and 38th in the state of Florida for the class of 2027, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. He’s received interest and offers from numerous programs, including the Florida Gators, South Florida Bulls, Ohio State Buckeyes, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Texas A&M Aggies, Ole Miss Rebels, Oregon Ducks, North Carolina Tar Heels, Oklahoma Sooners, and Purdue Boilermakers, along with others.

As spring training continues to unravel, Carey will have an opportunity to watch the Hurricanes in practice action. They added several new talents through the transfer portal and with the 2026 recruiting class, which features five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell.

It was reported in February that the three-star prospect has narrowed down his long list of offers to six programs: Miami, Florida, Oregon, Ohio State, Notre Dame, and the Auburn Tigers.

Last season, the Hurricanes experienced a significant defensive turnaround led by first-year defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman. They had productive players in the secondary, especially with cornerback Keionte Scott and safety Jakobe Thomas, both of whom declared for the upcoming NFL Draft.

The program is currently without a defensive backs coach after Zac Etheridge accepted a job with the Arizona Cardinals. However, coach Mario Cristobal has a couple of in-house names in the midst of the hiring process.

Regardless of the current vacancy, the Hurricanes are in a prime position to land a commitment from Carey. The upcoming visit around the Coral Gables campus and facility could solidify a final decision moving forward in the recruiting process.

The program’s entire 2027 recruiting class currently consists entirely of homegrown talent, including a couple of elite wide receivers in Nick Lennear and Ah’Mari Stevens. The latest additions were defensive lineman Josh Johnson and athlete Sherrod Gourdine, both of whom committed on the same day as scheduled visits.

Carey has a chance to stay close to home and compete for something great in college football.
