The Miami Hurricanes host promising two-way athlete Zion Vilma, a dynamic playmaker with electrifying speed and a nose for the end zone, seeking to boost their 2027 class.

As the Miami Hurricanes host a Pro Day for numerous NFL prospects, including those who didn’t receive an invite or participate in the Scouting Combine, it was reported on Monday that three-star athlete Zion Vilma has scheduled a spring visit for Tuesday, March 24. He currently attends Dr. Joaquin Garcia, a public institution located in Palm Beach County, Florida.

Vilma recorded snaps on both sides of the field. As a wide receiver, he caught 86 passes for 1,393 yards, scoring 23 total touchdowns in 23 games over two seasons. In that same span, the three-star recruit recorded 39 total tackles, 24 solos and 15 assists, a tackle for loss, and five interceptions as a cornerback.

The high school junior athlete is listed at 6-1, 180 pounds, 80-inch wingspan, and a 37-inch vertical. He’s ranked 751st nationally, 35th in his position, and 74th in the state of Florida for the class of 2027, according to Rivals Industry Rankings.

Vilma received interest and offers from numerous programs, including the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Georgia Bulldogs, Florida State Seminoles, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Liberty Flames, and Wake Forest Demon Deacons, along with others. Also, he was contacted by the South Florida Bulls and Syracuse Orange.

Coming off a National Championship, several high school prospects view the Hurricanes as a legitimate landing destination. The program has been named a finalist for several top-market recruits, including five-star plus cornerback John Meredith III.

As the recruiting class of 2027 continues to be a work in progress, it already features a couple of elite wide receivers in Nick Lennear and Ah’Mari Stevens. The rest of the commits are in-house talent. Vilma has an opportunity to be part of the program and its competitive resurgence. However, the three-star athlete would likely be utilized primarily as a wide receiver.

Vilma doesn’t just have great hands to catch the ball with, but can extend plays afterwards with his speed.

The biggest competition to the Hurricanes in the recruiting process is Rutgers. They scheduled an official visit with the Florida prospect on May 29.

Coach Mario Cristobal is recruiting Vilma to join a program close to home. Having the opportunity to host and show him around the Coral Gables campus and facilities should impact the recruiting process.

The Hurricanes’ turnaround was led by in-house talent, such as All-American edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr., star running back Mark Fletcher Jr., star wide receiver Malachi Toney, and All-American right tackle Francis Mauigoa, along with others. They’ll look to keep the trend going with several others, including Vilma.
