Dual-threat quarterback Peter Bourque, a highly-rated Massachusetts native, visits the Miami Hurricanes, seeking a new college home after decommitting from Michigan.
As spring training continues to unfold, the Miami Hurricanes will host several prospects throughout April, starting with Peter Bourque. He’s a four-star quarterback who currently attends Tabor, an independent institution located in Marion, Massachusetts. As a junior, the local talent threw for 2,241 yards and 18 touchdowns, completing 63.3 percent of his passes. Bourque is a dual-threat quarterback who can extend plays by running. He rushed 80 times for 688 yards, scoring 15 touchdowns.
The four-star prospect is scheduled to visit the Coral Gables campus and facility on Wednesday, April 1.
Bourque is listed at 6-4, 215 pounds, and ranked 81st in the nation, sixth among quarterbacks, and first in the state for the class of 2027, according to Rivlas Industry Rankings. He received interest and offers from numerous programs, including the Florida Gators, South Florida Bulls, Ole Miss Rebels, Texas A&M Aggies, Oregon Ducks, Louisville Cardinals, Washington Huskies, North Carolina State Wolfpack, Syracuse Orange, and Virginia Cavaliers, plus many others. The Hurricanes officially entered the mix on March 16.
The Massachusetts native originally committed to the Michigan Wolverines on Aug. 11, 2025, but decommitted on Feb. 17. The program went through controversy after the firing of former head coach Sherron Moore, who was released after an investigation revealed him to have had an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.
The Hurricanes have relied on the transfer portal over the last three years to bring in a quarterback who can lead the program towards contention, with Darian Mensah being the latest addition. However, the previous situations with Cam Ward and Carson Beck were one-and-done seasons.
One of the biggest challenges in college sports is roster retention, but part of the solution is recruiting and developing high school prospects. The Hurricanes’ turnaround was the result of that, with All-American edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr., All-American offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa, linebacker Wesley Bissainthe, and star running back Mark Fletcher Jr. being testaments.
The Hurricanes won’t always have the luxury of securing a top-market through the transfer portal. The program currently has Luke Nickel and Dereon Coleman, plus others, on the roster who can look to taking over the offense if Mensah is another one-and-done situation.
Borque made several unofficial visits throughout the recruiting process, but after his decommitment, more will likely be scheduled. He recently took a trip with the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, March 28.
The journey continues for the four-star prospect to select a program.
