Four-star edge rusher Jackson Vaughn gets an extended look at the Miami Hurricanes' pass-rushing pipeline during a crucial multi-day visit.

The Miami Hurricanes had arguably one of the best defensive ends in the nation with the combo of All-American Rueben Bain Jr. and Akheem Mesidor. They combined for 117 total tackles, 68 solos and 49 assists, 33 tackles for loss, and 22 sacks last season. However, as others are looking to step up, the program seeks to remain sharp at the edge rushing position.

Spring training officially opened and several high school recruits will have an opportunity to catch a glimpse of practices in-person, including Jackson Vaughn. He’s a four-star edge rusher from Oradell, New Jersey. Vaughn is scheduled to visit the program from Thursday to Saturday, April 2 to 4.

The defensive prospect currently attends Bergen Catholic High School, a private all-male Roman Catholic college preparatory institution located in Bergen County, New Jersey. He’s recorded 56 total tackles, 25 solos and 31 assists, 22.5 tackles for loss, and 16 sacks in 19 total games over two seasons.

Vaughn is listed at 6-4, 225 pounds, and ranked 75th nationally, 11th among edge rushers, and sixth in the state of New Jersey for the class of 2028, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. He’s received interest and offers from numerous programs, including the Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, South Florida Bulls, South Carolina Gamecocks, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Ohio State Buckeyes, LSU Tigers, Ole Miss Rebels, Texas A&M Aggies, and Louisville Cardinals, among others.

The New Jersey native has an opportunity to develop directly under Pro Football Hall of Famer and defensive line coach Jason Taylor. He played a significant role in Bain Jr. and Mesidor’s growth, which resulted in their emergence as dominant players and projected first-round talents in the upcoming NFL Draft.

The Hurricanes’ defensive turnaround was led by first-year defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman, who was a finalist for the Broyles Award, which honors the nation’s top assistant.

Coming off a National Championship appearance, the program seeks to remain in contention. Despite losing key players, such as Bain Jr. and Mesidor, they have others, such as Marquise Lightfoot, Booker Pickett Jr., Damon Wilson II, and Hayden Lowe, looking to step into expanded roles.

As the Hurricanes are set to host Vaughn for three consecutive days, the extended visit could leave an impact on the recruiting process. The process will continue for the four-star recruit before narrowing down all options and making a final decision towards a commitment.
