Gainesville's Tyler Ford joins the Miami Hurricanes' powerhouse 2027 class, bolstering the offensive line's future domination.

The Miami Hurricanes’ 2027 recruiting class continues to progress after offensive lineman Tyler Ford committed to the program on Wednesday, April 15. He’s a three-star prospect from Gainesville, Georgia, and attends Gainesville High School, a public institution located in Hall County. Ford made the decision a week after taking an unofficial visit to the Coral Gables campus and facility on Wednesday, April 8.

There were several other programs in the mix with interests and presented scholarship offers, including the Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Arkansas Razorbacks, Auburn Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, LSU Tigers, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Louisville Cardinals, Texas A&M Aggies, Wake Forest Demon Deacons, and Tulane Green Wave, along with others.

Ford is listed at 6-6, 307 pounds, and ranked 661st nationally, 59th among offensive tackles, and 76th in the state of Georgia for the 2027 recruiting class, according to 247Sports Composite. He’s the second offensive lineman to commit to the Hurricanes following four-star Sean Tatum’s announcement on Friday, April 10. The program built an identity around dominating matchups in the trenches, which resulted in a National Championship appearance last season. The team ranked No. 16 in the Football Bowl Subdivision in sacks allowed, 20 total in 16 games.

The Hurricanes had a unit with left tackle Markel Bell, right guard Anez Cooper, center James Brockermeyer, and All-American Francis Mauigoa, all of whom declared for the upcoming NFL Draft.

Ford will take the opportunity to develop directly under offensive line coach Alex Mirabal, who’s regarded as one of the top assistants in the nation. He primarily recruited the three-star recruit on behalf of the program. Ford has the size to benefit the team’s offensive line, create gaps for the run game, and provide protection for quarterbacks. As a tackle, he will need to develop and adjust to blocking quicker, stronger, and more athletic defensive ends.

The Hurricanes remain on pace to finish with a top-10 2027 recruiting class. They await commitments from other prospects who are potentially interested in joining. Coming off a National Championship, the program has captured the attention of several recruits who seek to compete at the highest collegiate level.

Ford joins a 2027 group that consists of elite talent, such as wide receivers Nick Lennear and Ah’Mari Stevens, plus four-star quarterback Israel Abrams. The rest of the cast are mostly in-house talents: four-star safety Jaylyn Jones, athlete Demarcus Deroche, three-star athlete Sherrod Gourdine, three-star offensive tackle Zaquan Linton, and three-star defensive lineman Josh Johnson.

The Hurricanes’ future gets brighter as a strong imprint is left on the high school recruiting trail.
