Tom Izzo secures a physical 6-foot-10 powerhouse for the 2027 class, beating out Big Ten rivals to land Pennsylvania’s top prospect and bolster the Spartan frontcourt.

Tom Izzo is back at it again, adding another major piece to Michigan State's impressive 2027 recruiting class.

Just a couple of weeks after landing another highly touted recruit in guard Antonio Pemberton, Izzo and the Spartans are back in the headlines with another splash on the recruiting trail.

This time, it's 4-star center Jaydn Jenkins committing to East Lansing.

Jenkins is a 6-foot-10, 220-pound big man who becomes the latest talented frontcourt prospect to join the Michigan State ranks. And if his recruiting rankings are any indication, the Spartans are getting another potential difference-maker for the future.

Spartan fans have grown accustomed to seeing talented big men come through the program, with Jaxon Kohler and Carson Cooper leading the way last season. However, Michigan State is taking its frontcourt to another level with the additions of 7-foot-2 transfers Anton Bonke and freshman Ethan Taylor.

Now, Jenkins adds another imposing presence to the mix.

At 6-foot-10, Jenkins brings a combination of size, strength, toughness and physicality that could make him a valuable addition to Izzo's system. He has the build and mentality to compete in the paint, and his commitment gives Michigan State another promising option for the future.

Jaydn Jenkins' Recruiting Rankings

Jenkins isn't just another big man filling out the roster. He's one of the highest-rated prospects in the country.

According to the SC Next Top 100, Jenkins ranks No. 60 nationally, making him the second top-60 recruit to commit to Michigan State's 2027 class. He received an 85 grade and a four-star rating from the recruiting outlet.

247Sports has Jenkins ranked No. 64 nationally, the eighth-best center in the country and the No. 1 recruit coming out of Pennsylvania.

His consensus rating, which combines evaluations from multiple major recruiting services, sits at an impressive 0.9777. That places him at No. 60 nationally, eighth among centers and first among Pennsylvania prospects.

Jenkins currently plays for Archbishop Wood in Warminster, Pennsylvania, where his physical style of play is on full display. Watching his film, it's easy to see why so many programs were eager to land the talented big man. He consistently uses his size and strength to overpower opposing defenders, making his presence felt around the basket.

Tom Izzo Continues to Build for the Future

Michigan State managed to beat out a lengthy list of suitors for Jenkins, including Xavier, Ohio State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Georgia and NC State, among others.

It's another recruiting victory for Izzo, who continues to balance building the future of the program with preparing his current roster for the upcoming season. In fact, the Spartans are just one day away from their first exhibition matchup, yet Izzo is still finding ways to make headlines on the recruiting trail.

Less than a week ago, Izzo discussed his preference for recruiting high school players over relying heavily on the transfer portal. He even joked that his reluctance to aggressively pursue portal additions gives Michigan State fans something to complain about on social media.

However, when Izzo continues to bring in some of the nation's top high school talent, it's easy to understand his approach.

The Spartans are building recruiting classes capable of keeping them among the nation's elite, and after assembling a top-10 class last year, Izzo is on track to do it again in 2027.

With talented prospects waiting in the wings, the transfer portal becomes a little less enticing when the future of the program is already taking shape in East Lansing.

Izzo doesn't appear to be slowing down anytime soon. With two top-60 recruits already committed for 2027, it will be fascinating to see how the rest of the class develops and what ripple effects these additions could have on Michigan State's roster.

For now, though, Spartan fans have plenty to celebrate. Antonio Pemberton and Jaydn Jenkins are officially on their way to Michigan State, and Izzo is showing no signs of taking his foot off the recruiting pedal.
