Pat Fitzgerald targets a shutdown defender for the 2028 class, battling elite programs for the signature of Imhotep Charter’s speedy ball-hawk to bolster the Spartans’ defensive future.

The Spartans have been extending offers quite a bit lately, with the latest going to a cornerback who grades out as a four-star recruit via the composite rating and is one of the top cornerbacks in the 2028 recruiting class.

Kaleb Woseley is a 6-foot, 160-pound cornerback from Imhotep Charter in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and is a member of the 2028 recruiting class.

Per 247Sports, Woseley is graded as an 89, which is the highest rating a three-star recruit can receive on its individual scale. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 32 cornerback in the 2028 class and the No. 11 recruit coming out of Pennsylvania.

His composite score, which combines ratings from multiple recruiting sites, grades Woseley at 0.8948, placing him just inside the four-star range.

That composite rating ranks him No. 354 nationally, the No. 36 cornerback and the No. 11 player out of Pennsylvania.

Woseley has already received a slew of offers from schools, including Boston College, Colorado, Duke, Florida State, Maryland, Nebraska, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Washington, West Virginia and Temple. Now, Michigan State can be added to that list after extending an offer and throwing its hat into the ring.

When watching Woseley play, it is not hard to figure out why so many teams have extended offers to him. On defense, his speed allows him to stay with nearly any receiver lined up against him. He uses that speed to put himself in a great position to bat the ball away, defend passes or even come up with an interception.

He is no slouch when it comes to putting his body on the line to take down a ball carrier, either. However, based on the tackles I have seen while breaking down his film, that might be something he needs to work on over the next few years of high school.

His sticky hands and tight coverage make it difficult for opposing receivers to find success against him. When passes do come his way, he does a good job of making sure there is no easy completion.

On offense, Woseley is just as dangerous, using his elusiveness and quickness to get off the line and find open positions to make catches.

The Spartans are already going all-in on building their future foundation, expressing their desire to spend at a top-five level in the Big Ten. However, that is not the only way to build a team. Michigan State will also need to rely on high school recruiting to establish a strong foundation for the program.

Landing Woseley would be a great addition to the Spartans' future secondary and a strong way to get the 2028 recruiting class started.
