Taylor, ESPN's No. 15 receiver in the 2027 class, gives Nebraska its fourth top 100 pledge under coach Matt Rhule.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers pulled off a major steal from an in-conference rival as they flipped a Big Ten target.

Four-star wide receiver Khalil Taylor committed to the Cornhuskers over the Penn State Nittany Lions who he initially pledged his commitment to.

He is ranked as ESPN’s No. 15 receiver in the 2027 class and slots in at No. 71 in the SC Next 300.

While the Colorado Buffaloes and Indiana Hoosiers made a late push for Taylor, he ultimately centered in on Nebraska and the Nittany Lions.

He had originally committed to Penn State back in March of 2025, but as tends to happen with coaching turnover, Taylor jumped ship a few days before former coach James Franklin was fired.

While he kept ties with new coach Matt Campbell, he kept fielding offers from top Power Four programs and eventually landed on Lincoln, Neb., where he’s joining a significant 2027 class.

To read more about the major flip for the Cornhuskers, here is the full story from Huskers Roundtable writer Austin Jacobsen.

Taylor joins a trio of top 100 pledges that includes four-star safety Tory Pittman III, quarterback Trae Taylor III, and offensive guard Jordan Agbonoma.

If the Huskers are able to retain all four pledges, it would mark the most top 100 signees for the program since ESPN began their recruiting rankings back in 2006.

Taylor has shown a history of betting on himself, as he transferred to Pine-Richland High School in Pennsylvania for his junior season after starting his career at Seton LaSalle High School.

He hails as the No. 3 recruit in the state.

Taylor totaled 33 catches for 571 yards and 16 touchdowns in an impressive 2025 campaign.

Should they hold onto him, he would be their highest ranked WR prospect since 2011.
